Episode Two – ‘Finding Out You’re Pregnant’ – OUT NOW

Our Dude Dads are Garry Spence and Grant Stott.

You know them from the worlds of radio and TV, print and panto, but you probably aren’t aware of the fact they are also perfectly placed to be our expert Fathers.

Garry is Dad to 8 year old twins Hollie and Rachel plus their little brother 3 year old Charlie.

Grant has Sam (23) and Lori (19).

From their various experiences in the world of fatherhood, these men have graduated to the highest accolade of paternity – the lofty title of Dude Dads.

Think of them as The A Team of Dadkind.

Given their vast collective back catalogue of Dadding, we’ve chosen them to help with your Dad problems, your Da’Lemmas. (I thangyoo, here all week. Don’t forget to tip your waitress).

They listen, consider and then dispense their collective wisdom – their Dadvice.

I guarantee when I tell you this week’s Da’Lemma from Dylan in Aberdeen, you will never come up with the answer our Dude Dads did.

Never.

You ready? Here it comes.

Dylan is coach to his son’s school football team. They train twice a week, and then play on the weekend. During the week Dylan feels they make great progress and plans for how they want to play. All the kids know their part by kick off.

And 30 seconds after that, it’s all shot to hell and in tatters when the other Dads all shout conflicting instructions and the kids become horribly confused, running about like headless chickens, any game-plan completely out the window.

Dylan’s Da’lemma? How does he get the other fathers to shut it on the sidelines?

What would you suggest?

Remember the challenge. You will NEVER match the answer from our Dude Dads.

Check the podcast to find out.

Also in this episode, Becks, our women’s health expert and Doula discusses what’s actually happening in Mum’s Tum in these early stages of pregnancy including Morning Sickness, life hacks to help combat it and advice for how Dad can help in a practical way.

Here’s the Running Order for the show.

Two Dud Dads – Episode 2 – OUT MONDAY 19th!

Episode Two is out on Monday!

This one is all about that moment you find out you’re pregnant.

When men briefly entertain the concept that it’s all down to our prowess and genetic power. And as that single ludicrous thought filters through the otherwise beautifully maintained under-utilised vacuous space our brains should occupy, unable to tell anyone else at this point, we settle for walking everywhere like this.

Just the previous evening she told you and you celebrated with your other half.

And then made a mental note to chuck that t-shirt in a boil wash immediately afterwards in case it soaked up any of the pee on the stick.

Our Doula Becks is going to tell you exactly what’s going on in Mum’s Tum in this early stage, what Dad can do to help, as well as some tips and life hacks for helping you through the worst of any Morning Sickness.

Plus, we chat about the excitement of scans and making plans!

And our Dude Dads, Garry Spence and Grant Stott tackle their first Da’Lemma, dispensing their Dadvice to Dylan from Aberdeen.

Here’s where you’ll find it all in our Running Order.

Boogie and John Mellis – Introduction 0 – 2.00
Emilia Bouglas – 2.00 – 2.08
Becks Armstrong – “Finding Out You’re Pregnant!” Morning Sickness. Scans, Plans and avoiding flans! 2.09 – 7.39

Two Dud Dads – Episode 1 – OUT MONDAY

This podcast has been a long time coming – well, for us anyway.

In fact, from the initial glint in the eye, suggesting against all popular medical research there may actually be some brain activity to measure in Boogie and John, it’s probably taken about the length of a standard pregnancy to get here.

So, what exactly is the Two Dud Dads podcast?

It’s a ‘How To Be Dad’ show.

Thanks for reading, see you next ti….

Boogie and John first met years ago in Aberdeen, working for the same employer, Northsound Radio.

John hosted the breakfast show on Northsound 1, while Boogie presented the same slot on Northsound 2.

They quickly became mates for life, and have long since wanted to present a show of some kind together, but the opportunity has never arisen.

For most, the fact no media conglomerate had seen fit to ensure this partnership had formed on air at some point in the last thirty years would be enough to deter them from attempting to do it themselves, but not our daring duo.

Unfettered, and with only a career lifetime of low expectation drummed into their respective audiences to protect them, Boogie And Mellis Shows was formed.

Two Dud Dads is its first (and most likely, ONLY) production.

Its aim, as mentioned previously, is to help make better fathers with the help of some experts.

We intend to go through the seasons and life chronologically, so Season 1 follows the various stages of pregnancy and what that entails, especially from a Dad’s point of view.

Guiding us through that is women’s health expert and doula, Becks Armstrong.

We’re also joined by some expert fathers, Grant Stott and Garry Spence.

Grant is Dad to Sam (23) and Lori (19), Garry has twins Hollie and Rachel (8) as well as son Charlie (3)

Through their wealth of experience, we’ve named these experts – The Dude Dads.

Also, Garry was the only one with a national newspaper column who could give us this exposure.

Each week, they can help other Dads (maybe you) struggling with a fatherhood issue, by dispensing Dadvice for those Da’lemmas.

To enlist their help, simply get in touch.

Oh, and we can’t forget ‘Silent Andrew.’ Every show, whether on the radio or part of the podcast world has its own Silent Andrew, but none of the others is as great as ours. Rarely seen and never heard Silent Andrew is the brain and beating heart of the entire operation that is Two Dud Dads. He takes the stuff we make, performs some kind of satanic or voodoo ritual on it and somehow recovers the material to a position of vaguely passable for censors and listeners alike. He chops, cuts, mixes, blends and produces. Most of all he presses the button on the bleep machine better than anyone else in the industry. In truth, he’s not actually silent, but has learnt over the course of three decades that an eye roll, face palm, or pitying sigh at the right moment are far more powerful than any of his vocabulary. Without Silent Andrew we simply wouldn’t be here. Also, we don’t pay him nearly enough, hence the reason he’s got a bigger introduction paragraph than anyone who actually features on the show.

Enough?

Excellent.

And that’s it, well, along with….

There, you’ve met the family.

Just a few more days to wait until Episode 1.

Just one more thing to go wrong in 2020.

Two Dud Dads, due date 12/10/20.

And while you wait, how about checking out our secret Episode Zero.

Two Dud Dads – Season One Due Date IS……

…..October 12th, 2020.

Yes, just when you thought – “Can 2020 get any worse?!”

We replied with a defiant “Yes. Yes it can”

This is a labour of love podcast borne in Lockdown Fever, and to carry forward the pregnancy analogy a little bit further – it may just have started with two people but it took a team to bring it into the world.

Our aim is to learn how to be better Dads, but to maybe help you along the way too, so we can collectively pull our socks up as one giant group of fatherhood.

AND, we’ve got a fair idea how you passed the time in Lockdown after you’d completed Netflix and Amazon Prime.

No, not Disney Plus, but you’re cute to suggest it.

So, Two Dud Dads is about us, taking advice from our friendly Doula and women’s health expert as she walks us through everything you might have to face during a pregnancy. Great advice whether it’s your first time or a refresher course.

And we have expert fathers on hand too.

Our Dude Dads are pretty much the polar opposite of our own fatherhood model.

Together they’ll be tackling your Da’Lemmas. Think of them as the (Silent D)a-team.

Meet our cast in full, soon.

And in the meantime, remember…..

Two Dud Dads Coming Soon

Hello!

Boogie (that’s him on the left), and John Mellis (that’s him on the right) are having a baby!

A baby podcast.

A baby podcast about having babies, and raising them into little humans ready to conquer the world.

Except neither of them have any clue how to do that, so the podcast should be interesting.

Learn how to be a great Dad by listening to exactly what they do, and then don’t.

Two Dud Dads, Dadding one day at a time, occasionally helped by experts.

A podcast, coming soon.

In the meantime, behind the scenes, it’s full steam ahead.

Everything’s in good hands.
